ECCO kicks off the Season of Gratitude with a call to “Do Good Together”

November 11, 2025

East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) is launching its annual Season of Gratitude campaign, reminding the community that generosity and compassion are what make the holidays truly meaningful.

As Thanksgiving approaches, ECCO is preparing to provide Thanksgiving meals for more than 600 local families, ensuring that neighbors in the Lowcountry can gather around full tables and share in the joy of the season.

“Providing a meal goes far beyond food,” said Stephanie M. Kelley, Executive Director of ECCO. “It offers hope, dignity, and a sense of community to those who are struggling. Because of the generosity of our neighbors, hundreds of families will have the comfort of knowing they are cared for this Thanksgiving.”

ECCO’s holiday efforts also include the Adopt-A-Family program, which allows donors to brighten the holidays for 200 local families by providing gifts and essentials that make the season special.

Community members can get involved by:

  • Hosting a food drive or collecting pantry staples
  • Sharing ECCO’s mission on social media using #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors

“The holidays end, but the need does not,” Kelley added. “Your generosity today ensures ECCO can continue providing hope for families throughout the year.”

About East Cooper Community Outreach

Founded as an emergency relief effort in 1989 after the devastation from Hurricane Hugo, East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) has since grown into a permanent resource for the community with three main service areas: Assistance, Guidance, and Resources. Nearly two thousand families receive help through ECCO’s Wellness Pantry, Financial Assistance, Dental & Medical Clinics, Prescription Assistance, Clothing Closet, Asset Development Program, and more each year. Enhanced through personal interactions with staff who provide individualized support and coaching for each client, ECCO meets each client where they are and helps them navigate the challenges they are facing with care and compassion. ECCO is also a place where people who want to help their neighbors in need can find meaningful ways to share their time, talent, and treasure. Each year, over four hundred local neighbors give their time volunteering at ECCO. For more information about how to receive help or provide help, visit www.eccocharleston.org.
