ECCO receives continued support from The Leon Levine Foundation with multi-year grant
September 3, 2025
East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) shared the continued generosity of The Leon Levine Foundation with the receipt of the second $75,000 installment of a $150,000 multi-year grant. This investment in ECCO’s mission provides vital general operating support, allowing the organization to respond to the increasing needs of local families experiencing food insecurity, financial challenges, and limited access to healthcare.
Founded in 1980, The Leon Levine Foundation’s mission is to empower underserved Carolinians to be self-sufficient and strengthening our Jewish community.
The foundation supports programs and organizations that align with four core mission areas: healthcare, human services, education, and Jewish values. The Foundation invests in nonprofits across North and South Carolina with strong leadership, a track record of success, and a plan for financial sustainability.
“We are delighted to receive notification of the multi-year grant through The Leon Levine Foundation,” said Stephanie Kelley, ECCO’s Executive Director. “ECCO is proud of our partnership with The Leon Levine Foundation, that began in 2019, to improve the lives of neighbors living in our community. The foundation’s general operating support ensures that ECCO will continue to meet the growing needs of our neighbors. This is possible thanks to the incredible generosity of The Leon Levine Foundation.”
When local neighbors are facing financial hardship, ECCO is there to provide help and hope. Whether it’s one single service provided like food or financial assistance or years of walking through hardship, the ECCO team encourages, advocates, and develops a system of support focused on helping local neighbors navigate through life’s challenges.
Over the past year, ECCO has provided assistance to nearly 1,500 local households. These households are made up of men and women experiencing a wide array of challenges including financial distress. Programs reach senior citizens, the disabled, unemployed or underemployed, veterans, families living in generational poverty, and those experiencing situational poverty. ECCO supports those battling serious health conditions, fleeing domestic violence, and experiencing homelessness.
