R. Jason Caskey Receives “Distinguished Young Alumnus” Award from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina
GREENVILLE, SC – May 8, 2008 – Elliott Davis, LLC, one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business advisory firms, announced that R. Jason Caskey, a shareholder and CPA in the firm’s Columbia office, was awarded the “Distinguished Young Alumnus” award from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Caskey was honored at the Moore School of Business’ 2008 Business Leadership Dinner on Friday, May 2nd at The Zone at Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. for his professional accomplishments and community outreach.
“Our distinguished alumni have used the business education they received at our School to outstanding results, adding significant value to organizations and communities around the world, said Hildy J. Teegen, dean of the Moore School of Business. “ They motivate and inspire us all,” added Teegen.
In addition to his role as an Elliott Davis shareholder, Caskey is chairman of the firm’s Financial Institutions Group, which provides accounting and consulting services to more than 100 financial institutions across the Southeast.
He is also a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, which sets the firm’s strategic direction. In 2007, Caskey was named Chairman of the firm’s Strategic Recruiting Committee, which develops plans for the firm’s recruiting efforts at colleges and universities across the Southeast. He leads Elliott Davis’ recruiting efforts at the School of Accounting at the Moore School of Business, which provides the largest number of accounting graduates for the firm. He also has served on the Board of Directors for Moore’s Friends of Accounting Department (FAD), and is a member of the USC-Business Partnership Foundation Board of Advisors.
Caskey graduated from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, majoring in accounting. While at the University of South Carolina, he was a member of Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity, and Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting fraternity. He served as treasurer for both organizations.
Caskey is actively involved in community and church activities and served on the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Board. In that capacity, he served as treasurer and as a member of the Board’s executive committee. He currently serves as deacon, chairman of the finance committee, and member of the budget planning committee at First Baptist Church in Columbia.
In 2007, Caskey was named one of Columbia’s rising stars in the “20 Under 40” listing sponsored by The State newspaper in Columbia.
