Engineered Systems dedicates Habitat for Humanity home

On Wednesday, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County dedicated the Wilson family home with their newest build partner, Engineered Systems.
As a Greenville-based company with a regional footprint, Engineered Systems wanted to give back to their community in a meaningful way. They opted to partner with Habitat because of Habitat’s impact on families through affordable homeownership. The company hopes to contribute to future builds in Habitat Greenville’s Grace Point neighborhood, located in the White Horse Road area.
“We chose to work with Habitat because we wanted to work together to benefit the community, but this project is more than a house. The training and budget skills that Habitat provides these homeowners helps them provide a foundation for their life, not just their home,” said Don Wilson, President of Engineered Systems.
As a Habitat Greenville program participant, homeowner Daisyana Wilson has completed 20 hours of homeownership education classes. She will also complete 200 hours of “sweat equity,” building her home and the homes of other Habitat homeowners alongside volunteers from Engineered Systems and other organizations. She will pay an affordable mortgage for the home.
Wednesday’s dedication is a significant milestone in the Wilson family’s journey to homeownership. During the dedication, build partners and sponsors presented the Wilson family with gifts that will prepare them for life as homeowners, including tools, a vacuum cleaner, lawnmower, and cleaning supplies. Artist Carol Hoffman presented the family a watercolor, and Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild donated a handmade quilt for each family member.
