Georgia Mjartan, President & CEO, Central Carolina Community Foundation
Georgia Mjartan became President & CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation in July 2024, bringing extensive experience in public service, nonprofit leadership, and systems-level impact. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served for seven years as Executive Director of South Carolina First Steps, where she led statewide efforts to strengthen early childhood education and improve outcomes for families across South Carolina.
Central Carolina Community Foundation manages more than $275 million in assets across over 525 charitable funds, serving nearly a quarter of the state through an eleven-county footprint. The Foundation connects individuals, families, and organizations with high-impact philanthropy, supporting nonprofits through grants and advancing educational attainment through a robust scholarship program. Its major initiatives include Midlands Gives, Connected Communities Grants, the One SC Fund, and an annual scholarship program that opens doors for students throughout the region.
Under Mjartan’s leadership, the Foundation is also embracing innovation to strengthen nonprofit capacity. In April 2025, Google.org awarded Central Carolina Community Foundation $1 million through its AI Opportunity Fund to provide artificial intelligence training to local nonprofits.
