Entrepreneur Secrets: What we can learn from Amazon’s latest
October 17, 2016By Jerry Bellune
What we can learn from Amazon’s latest
The giant internet retailer hasn’t confirmed this yet.
But you can bet it’s going to happen.
Amazon insiders have told the Wall Street Journal:
It will open 600 grocery stores in 100 markets soon
How soon is soon? Amazon isn’t saying but . . .
The stores will be for its Fresh members initially.
Like Sam’s Club, you have to be a member to get in.
That’s smart strategy No. 1: Membership money.
Amazon already has thousands of Fresh members.
They believe this will attract even more members.
Why? Because it adds value and convenience.
.
Strategy No. 2: It improves buying decisions.
Fresh members can order groceries delivered.
Others want to be able to pick out what they want.
That’s true especially for produce and meat.
The stores will give customers that advantage.
It’s personalized. One size doesn’t fit all.
.
Strategy No. 3: Pick it up or they deliver.
This gives customers more options.
They can save delivery charges by picking it up.
Or Amazon can make money on deliveries.
Either way, Amazon and its customers win.
.
What are the lessons for us entrepreneurs?
No, we’re not Amazon with its money and resources.
But when Jeff Bezos started, he wasn’t Amazon.
He started it in his garage on makeshift tables.
All of us have to start somewhere. But where?
That’s where vision and some luck come into play.
.
Ask yourself these deeper questions:
1. How can I profit from Jeff Bezos’ vision?
2. How can I develop a membership program?
3. What can I offer members they can’t live without?
4. How can that benefit them and make me profitable?
5. What options can I offer my clients and prospects?
