Environmental Defense Action Fund Offers $10,000 for Carbon Cap Competition

September 27, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC – September 25, 2008 – Environmental Defense Action Fund today launched a web competition offering $10,000 for the video or graphic that best explains how capping greenhouse gas pollution will break America’s addiction to oil.

Scientists, economists, environmentalists, and business leaders agree that a cap on carbon emissions is the best way to cure our addiction to oil: It will stimulate a massive private sector investment in alternative energy and shift our economy off an over-reliance on fossil fuels.

A cap on carbon will end America’s oil addiction by spurring investors and inventors to develop clean energy solutions. In the same way, we think this competition will spur creative minds around the country to help tell this story, said Keith Gaby, director of communications for the National Climate Campaign at EDAF.

The competition aims to find a smart, clear and vivid way to illustrate of how a carbon cap will solve America’s oil addiction.  The competition will end at 11:59 pm on Friday November 21, 2008.  Second and third prizes will also be rewarded.

Details on the competition can be found at: www.edf.org/competition.
