Epworth Children's Home Cook Out for Kids BBQ event April 17th

COLUMBIA, SC – March 4, 2010 – Epworth’s Alumni Association is having its second annual fundraiser for Epworth Children’s Home by having its second annual  Cook Out for Kids BBQ event on Saturday, April 17, from 11am – 4pm. This year our goal is to raise $20,000, all of which will be donated to Epworth’s mission of helping children in difficult family situations. In this time of an economic downturn, it’s vitally important for all of us to support organizations that provide a positive force in the lives of children. The BBQ is scheduled to be on the center green on the beautiful campus of Epworth Children’s Home located at 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia; SC.

 Award winning cooks will prepare BBQ chicken plates ($7), pork plates ($7) with all the fixings and large Boston Butts that will feed your family for a week ($25). You can enjoy eating on site while being entertained by multiple Blue Grass bands providing music for your enjoyment or you can pre-order and drive through our pick up station to have your BBQ delivered to your car by our volunteers. There will also be a Bake Sale of fantastic cakes and pies provided by The Red Hat Honeys of Columbia.  This is a wonderful event to enjoy with your family while helping other families and children. April is a beautiful time of year in Columbia with everything in bloom. I know you will enjoy your self. Everyone who attended last year had a blast.

This year’s fundraiser promises to be even better. Last year was our first fundraiser and it went very well with only a few issues. We are more experienced and have added more volunteers to prevent long serving lines experienced in 2009. In addition to the BBQ and Blue Grass bands, we are excited to have the Palmetto A’s, a vintage car club, bringing over 30 beautifully restored Model A Fords for our guest to view. This will be a great family event for you to have on your calendar!!!

We need pre-orders to measure the amount of meat and food items needed for this event and contributions to purchase the food items and supplies.
