ERA Wilder Realty Broker Awarded High Military Honor

December 14, 2009

COLUMBIA, SC – December 14, 2009 – In an annual event held at Shaw Air Force Base, the 4th Battlefield Coordination Detachment inducted ERA Wilder Realty Broker Debbie Bowen to the prestigious Order of Molly Pitcher.

The Battle of Monmouth on June 23, 1778 witnessed the emergence of one of the stellar figures of Field Artillery history. Mary Ludwig Hays, known for her selfless acts, carried pitcher after pitcher of water to swab the bores of overheated cannons and to quench the thirst of busy gunners who then dubbed her Molly Pitcher.

She also took the place of a wounded soldier at the rammer staff of his cannon. In recognition of her heroism, General Washington issued Molly Pitcher a warrant as a noncommissioned officer, and she became universally known as Sergeant Molly.

Today the tradition continues by honoring the selfless service of some of our community leaders.

We are very proud of Debbie, says Eddie Wilder, President of ERA Wilder Realty. Debbie serves her community and her agents every day through her kindness and leadership. She is an excellent role model for all of us.
