Ernie Yarborough will attempt to swim from Timberlake to the dam – 10 miles!

May 10, 2017

Along with being a local Nationwide Insurance Agent for close to 20 years, Ernie Yarborough also volunteers every Thursday morning at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital and spends most of my time on the cancer floor. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children under the age of 20.

Ernie was recently nominated as a candidate for Man of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and is now raising money for LLS. To show his commitment to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and hopefully encourage people to donate, he is going to try to make history on Lake Murray and attempt the longest endurance swim ever done on the lake. He will start at Timberlake Country Club at noon on Friday, May 12th and will attempt to swim a 10 mile stretch all the way to the Lake Murray Dam by 6:00 pm that evening. He feels that this is the least he can do to help support such a great organization. LLS not only does cancer research, but they do things to enrich the lives of those that are currently in the fight. 80% of Leukemia patients are under the age of 20.

Ernie has completed 4 Ironman Competitions as well as the swim from Alcatraz, but nothing has included a swim of this distance.
