Ad Age names agency one of the 30 top employers in the country

GREENVILLE, SC – August 29, 2011 – Erwin-Penland (EP), a division of The Interpublic Group’s Hill Holliday and one of the largest advertising and marketing firms in the South, has been named to the “2011 Best Places to Work” list by Ad Age,  the nation’s leading advertising, marketing and media magazine.

Placing 23rd among 30 industry leaders honored by Ad Age, Erwin-Penland was singled out for creating an environment in which people love to work and contribute their best ideas.  The full-service marketing firm with more than 275 employees was evaluated on a two-part employee survey that covered workplace experience and company culture, as well as a questionnaire used to collect information about the agency’s benefits, policies and practices.

Buck Consultants, a global employee benefits and human resources consulting firm, compiled the surveys and ranked the winners for Ad Age.  The second-year competition drew 150 entries in 2011, with other notable honorees including such major ad firms as Chicago’s, Leo Burnett, global tech shop Digitas and Erwin-Penland’s sister agency, Boston-based Hill Holliday.

The award comes on the heels of Erwin-Penland being named a finalist in the sixth annual “Best Places to Work in South Carolina” competition sponsored by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, one of only 10 companies honored in the large employer category (250+ employees).  Winners will be announced at an awards dinner Oct. 4 in Columbia.

“These honors validate the effort we put into making Erwin-Penland the kind of place talented people want to come to every day,” said Joe Erwin, Erwin-Penland’s founder and president. “The positive exposure these awards can bring us will only help our efforts to continue recruiting great people to join our team.”

Erwin-Penland’s workplace is defined by creative activity, both in work time and in play.  Employees can be found in the eclectically furnished Yellow Submarine conference room or playing ping-pong before a meeting.  To make daily life more enjoyable, the company offers an “EPerks” benefits package that includes on-site massage therapy, car washing services, a personal trainer and discounts on concert tickets and even pet care.
