Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the State Museum with Amore Under the Stars

Special after-hours event features live music, Champagne bar, new laser light show and more

The South Carolina State Museum Foundation is excited to announce the return of Amore Under the Stars, an exclusive after-hours fundraising event, on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 6 – 10 p.m. Guests are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic evening that includes a live musical performance from the ColaJazz Little Big Band, an exclusive planetarium laser show, night sky observing and more. Plus, proceeds go directly to support educational programs at the museum!

Guests looking for the ultimate date night or the perfect evening out with friends will enjoy a full Champagne bar with special mixers, delicious food by Loosh Culinaire and a souvenir Champagne flute to take home. The Boeing Observatory will also be open, weather permitting, so guests can observe the splendor of the night sky through the historic Alvan Clark telescope and enjoy a lovely view of Columbia from the observatory terrace. In addition to stargazing, guests can enjoy a romantic stroll through the museum’s galleries and explore artifacts from the museum’s collection which highlight some of South Carolina’s greatest stories of love and friendship.

New to this annual event, guests are also invited to enjoy an exclusive laser light show, made specifically for Amore Under the Stars. Sponsored by Murphy & Grantland, Love Under the Laser Lights features classic love songs by Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young and current hits by Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift set to a dazzling display of lasers inside the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Planetarium.

Tickets for Amore Under the Stars are $80 for general public and $60 for museum members. Tickets include event activities, food from Loosh Culinaire, a souvenir Champagne flute and two drink vouchers. Additional beer, wine, Champagne and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Planetarium shows are first come, first served based on capacity.
