Chamber Music Charleston launches its 21st Season with Tango Meets Classical on Sunday, September 27 at 3pm at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

Violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti returns to CMC, joined by cellist Brannon Cho in his CMC debut, alongside CMC musicians Frances Hsieh, Ben Weiss, and Timothy O’Malley.

The program brings together two extraordinary works: Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Ballet, a vivid sequence of six interconnected scenes inspired by the sounds, rhythms, and spirit of Buenos Aires, and Schubert’s iconic String Quintet in C Major, the beloved Cello Quintet, featuring its distinctive two-cello instrumentation.

With an acclaimed international career as a soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster, and educator, Amy Schwartz Moretti brings her deeply expressive artistry back to Charleston.

Brannon Cho, First Prize winner of the 6th International Paulo Cello Competition and a top prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth, Naumburg, and Cassadó International Cello Competitions, makes his CMC debut following appearances with orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe
