The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and the Laurens Police Department are inviting residents to start their morning with a cup of coffee and a conversation when Coffee with a Cop returns Friday, Oct. 9.

The event will run from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Whiteford’s of Laurens, 212 Hillcrest Drive in Laurens. Whiteford’s is hosting the gathering and sponsoring the coffee.

The joint effort between the two agencies is designed to build lasting connections between law enforcement officers and the people they serve. The informal setting gives residents a chance to meet deputies and officers, ask questions, share concerns and get to know the people working in their neighborhoods.

“Our deputies are part of this community, and mornings like this give folks a chance to see that,” said Sheriff Don Reynolds. “We want people to feel comfortable walking up, pulling up a chair and talking with us. Those relationships make a real difference when it matters most.”

Both agencies extended their thanks to Whiteford’s for opening its doors and providing the coffee. Attendees are welcome to order breakfast and stay awhile.

The event is free and open to the public.
