More Than Just Fun: A Powerful Concert Experience at PC’s Belk Auditorium

April 3 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Laurens County music lovers are invited to experience an evening that promises to go beyond mere entertainment. “More Than Just Fun,” a thoughtfully curated concert hosted at Presbyterian College’s Belk Auditorium, will take place on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free to the public, and guests are encouraged to come in casual attire.

Presented by the talented musicians of Presbyterian College’s Music Department, the concert invites the community to engage with music as a profound, creative force—not just a product for consumption. More than a night of melodies, it is a call to rediscover music as a soul-stirring art form that offers meaning, beauty, and transformation.

The evening’s program is built around two central ideas. The first focuses on music’s essence—its ability to foster deep reflection and offer aesthetic pleasure. This theme will be brought to life through powerful selections including Concerto in One Movement by Lebedev, featuring Mathew Tuk, brass instructor and director of the Laurens County Academy of Music. Audiences will also experience the emotionally rich and technically challenging A Rose Blooms Forth by David Gillingham.

The second idea embraces music’s role in entertainment—while pushing back against the trend of reducing it to a commercial product. Rather than simply consume, the audience is invited to appreciate the wit, craftsmanship, and joy that great music can bring. The program will include selections designed to delight and entertain without compromising the integrity of the art form.

“More Than Just Fun” serves as a reminder of music’s power to connect, transform, and elevate us beyond the noise of daily life. Don’t miss this free community concert that promises to be as enriching as it is enjoyable.
