Fill the Cruiser: Sheriff’s Office Teams Up with Community to Support Students
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is calling on the community to help students gear up for the upcoming school year through its annual Fill the Cruiser school supply drive.
On Friday, July 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., deputies will be stationed at Chick-fil-A Laurens, collecting donations of school supplies to help local children start the school year prepared and confident. The goal? Fill an entire patrol vehicle with backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other essential items that students need to succeed.
“This is one of our favorite ways to connect with the community while making a real impact for kids across Laurens County,” said Sheriff Don Reynolds. “We’re grateful for every donation—big or small—that helps ensure no student starts the year without the tools they need.”
Deputies will be on-site to thank donors personally and load the donated supplies into a marked cruiser parked outside the restaurant.
Items needed include:
Backpacks – clear and regular
Loose-leaf paper and notebooks
Pencils, pens, crayons, and highlighters
Glue sticks and scissors
Folders and binders
Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes
Whether you’re picking up breakfast or heading into work, community members are encouraged to drop off supplies and show support for Laurens County’s students.
