Experience Columbia SC wins Best in Business Awards

Experience Columbia SC (ECSC), the destination marketing organization for the Columbia region, has won three first place South Carolina Best in Business 2021 Awards.
ECSC earned Best Hospitality Business and Best Tourism Business while Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center earned Best Meeting Venue. The inaugural award is published by Integrated Media Publishing which includes Columbia Business Monthly, Charleston Business Magazine and Greenville Business Magazine. The awards recognize the best companies and individuals from around the state that bring success to South Carolina’s business community.
“It’s always great to be recognized by our community for our efforts in tourism,” said President and CEO Bill Ellen. “We strive to be the biggest cheerleaders for the Columbia region, and bring leisure and business travelers as well as meetings and conventions to the area to support and strengthen our economy. Our commitment to that has grown with recent challenges and we are working harder than ever to attract new visitors, sustain those who come here regularly and partner with our attractions and hotels to ensure that we are one of the top destinations to visit in the South.”
Award nominations were open to readers to select their favorite businesses. A total of 118 categories were then voted on by the public to determine the “Best” in the state of South Carolina.
Columbia SC tourism is comprised of a set of sister organizations – Midlands Authority for Conventions Sports and Tourism and Columbia Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau and has worked to champion tourism and attract meetings and conventions to the area since 1984. The sister organizations house three brands – Experience Columbia SC, Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center and Experience Columbia SC Sports – all charged with strengthening the area’s economy by marketing and selling the region as a premier destination for meetings and conventions, tradeshows, special events and leisure travel.
The Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center is the state’s only downtown convention center. Open since 2004, the center hosts events ranging from receptions to cultural galas, corporate functions and international trade shows. CMCC is a GBAC Star Facility. The highly-coveted credential is awarded to organizations that follow a rigorous set of cleaning guidelines, disinfection techniques and infection prevention strategies.
