Family Medicine of Bishopville set to welcome new patients

Residents of Bishopville and surrounding communities will have a new avenue for family medical care when Bishopville Family Medicine opens Friday, July 27.
This Palmetto Heath-USC Medical Group practice at 116 Hospital Square in Bishopville will provide general health care services for acute illnesses and chronic conditions, as well as minor surgical procedures and annual wellness exams. John B. Pate Jr., M.D., who has practiced in the Bishopville community for many years, will be the primary provider.
The practice will be open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m–1 p.m. Scheduled appointments are recommended.
Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group is the largest multispecialty, clinically integrated medical group in the Midlands and provides the broadest range of health care services throughout the region. The group includes more than 700 general and advanced care providers, more than 30 specialties and provides comprehensive coordinated care across the various specialties.
The opening of the Bishopville practice is part of a wider effort to extend the Medical Group’s expertise into the Midlands rural communities and beyond.

The Bishopville practice will hold a ribbon-cutting and open house Friday, July 27, 1–3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and guests will receive a commemorative gift.

About John Bush Pate Jr., M.D.
Pate received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed a residency in family practice at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, South Carolina, where he was chief resident his third year. Pate operated a private practice in family medicine in Bishopville from 1983 to 1997, and he was a family physician for McLeod Physician Associates in Bishopville from 1997 to 2018. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
