Family Promise of the Midlands names case manager

Olivia Williams-Turner, a retired military officer with a master’s degree in social work, has been hired as the new case manager of Family Promise of the Midlands.
Williams-Turner received her master’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 2016, graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Previously, she served for 21 years as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of major.
“We are so fortunate to have someone with Olivia’s background, experience and commitment to helping families who are experiencing homelessness,” said the Rev. Karen Newsome, executive director of Family Promise of the Midlands.
Family Promise engages the Midlands faith community through 27 host and support congregations that help homeless families get back on their feet. Since it began operating in December 2014, Family Promise of the Midlands has served 32 families including 113 people.
“This is a ministry that touches my heart, and I feel blessed to work with an organization that is making such a difference in the Midlands,” said Williams-Turner. She is married to the Hammond School dean of students, Dr. Michael Turner, and has three teenage children.
