July 8, 2010

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – July 9, 2010 – Boeing recently named Mark Fava Chief Counsel for its South Carolina site. In this role, Fava is part of the Boeing Commercial Airplanes legal team, and will serve as the lead attorney supporting and coordinating the company’s South Carolina operations. He will be based in North Charleston, S.C.

I am excited to welcome Mark Fava to Boeing and to the Boeing Law Department, said Mike Luttig, executive vice president and general counsel for The Boeing Company. Fava brings to this important new position a combination of first-rate legal skill, extensive experience in the aviation industry, and familiarity with the Charleston community. He will be a great asset both to the Boeing Law Department and to the Company’s South Carolina operations.

Before joining Boeing, Fava was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Charleston, S.C., where his private practice focused on aviation law.  Prior to that, he was chief operations attorney for Delta Air Lines, and he has taught Aviation Law as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He also served as a federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable David Norton, now Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.  Fava served on active duty in the United States Navy for six years as a naval flight officer, and he remains active in the United States Navy reserve, where he holds the rank of captain
