FEMA Provides Disaster Assistance at The Ridge in Laurens Today – What You Need to Know

The FEMA Disaster Assistance Station is open today at The Ridge, located at 301 Exchange Rd, Laurens, to offer support to residents affected by Hurricane Helene. Brenda Stewart, Publisher of The Laurens County Buzz, visited the station this morning to observe the assistance efforts.

The FEMA team, consisting of 4-6 employees at individual tables, is available to answer questions and assist those having difficulty filing their disaster relief applications. One FEMA employee was seen patiently guiding an elderly resident through the process, providing helpful information to ensure the application was completed accurately.

According to the site manager, FEMA representatives will be onsite until 4 p.m., with the possibility of staying until 5 p.m. if permission is granted. Information regarding additional days of assistance is currently unavailable. However, The Buzz has requested that the FEMA information officer (not onsite) provide updates on any future dates so the community can be informed. The onsite manager does not have this information.

Important Information for Filing FEMA Applications: Residents seeking assistance should bring the following details:

  • Address, including zip code
  • Condition of the damaged home
  • Insurance information, if applicable
  • Social Security number
  • Phone number for contact
  • Mailing address or email for electronic notifications

FEMA offers the option to have disaster assistance funds sent directly to your bank account at no additional charge. Make sure to bring your bank account type, account number, and routing number for this option.
