COLUMBIA, SC – Charlie Weston of Guardian Fence in Columbia was named to the American Fencing Association Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

To be eligible, AFA Hall of Fame members must have at least 25 years in the industry, having made contributions through volunteer service and professional leadership.

Weston is a member of the AFA’s Carolina Fence Chapter, twice serving as chapter president. A Certified Fence Professional with more than 40 years in the fencing industry, he has contributed to multiple committees on both the chapter and national level.

“Most important, his ethics, knowledge and passion for our industry have earned him a level of respect and esteem among his peers and colleagues that is hard to equal,” the AFA stated in announcing Weston’s honor.

Guardian Fence is the only manufacturer of chain-link fence, barbed wire and other wire products in the state. Guardian also serves as a supplier and installer of fence, rail, gate and decking products for the commercial, residential, and industrial markets throughout the Midlands.

“I’m humbled to be honored by my industry peers with induction into the American Fencing Association Hall of Fame,” Weston said. “I credit our team at Guardian Fence, which has more than 300 years of combined industry experience, as well as our quality products and customer-first focus. We all pull together to exceed our customers’ expectations, and we are very proud of the work we do.”

In addition to his work with the AFA, Weston has served as president of the Chain Link Fence Manufacturers Institute. Guardian Fence has been a CLFMI member for 30 years.
