Fiber Industries to develop industrial park via Palmetto Sites Program

November 3, 2021

On Nov. 3, 2021, textile manufacturing company, Fiber Industries, along with landowner – International Process Plants (IPP), proudly announced they have applied and are under consideration for the prestigious Palmetto Sites program.

Designed to increase the inventory of marketable sites in South Carolina and as part of their commitment to being ‘Just right’ for business, the SC Department of Commerce offers prospective industry partners access to an inventory of industrial sites that have been vetted to meet industry needs. A Palmetto Site designation is just one more reason why choosing a location in South Carolina is an easy decision, and a faster one.

“Fiber Industries is excited about this opportunity with Palmetto Sites as we continue to demonstrate our commitment to be a strong community partner supporting the future growth of Darlington County,” said Don Bockoven, CEO of Fiber Industries.

The current 760-acre landmark located just off Interstate 95 is known as one of the largest private rail spurs in the state of South Carolina. The property boasts a ready-made infrastructure of steam, compressed air, hot oil, chilled water, permitted waste water treatment plant, dual electrical feeds, as well as significant natural gas access and well water.

“Darlington County is a wonderful place to do business and we are thrilled to have support from Fiber Industries providing a site ready location to help bring more companies to our community,” said Lewis Brown, Darlington County Economic Development Director.

“As part of IPP’s commitment to revitalizing industrial sites and supporting their local host communities, we are elated to be taking part in the Palmetto Sites program to welcome the world to our great facility in Darlington County and the business-friendly environment created by the state of South Carolina,” said Ronald Gale, President of International Process Plants.

The industrial park development will enable the site to be developed as an industrial park and provide the county with a shovel ready site for potential investment. This redevelopment will encourage further growth, improvements and expansion throughout the community.
