The Fifth Annual Wish Ball aims to raise a record $300,000 to grant wishes for S.C. wish kids

December 19, 2017

In February 2017 all eyes were on the stage as wish kid, Grayson, walked onstage at the Wish Ball. The audience held their collective breath as the emcee told Grayson, “You’re wish is coming true!”

Applause thundered through the ballroom as guests experienced that powerful moment. Now, we invite you to be a part of the 5th Annual Wish Ball so you too can be a part of an evening celebrating wish granting for children with critical illnesses in our communities . Guests enjoy an unparalleled experience, seeing firsthand the transformative power of wish granting.

The Wish Ball is an enriching opportunity to directly support the wishes of local children, helping provide wish kids with much-needed hope and strength. Make-A-Wish South Carolina aims to raise a record $300,000 to help us reach our goal to provide more wishes to kids who need the medicine of hope.

The gala will be held on February 24, 2018 at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center in Columbia S.C. at 6pm.

This year, attendees can look forward to meeting the guest of honor, wish kid Eli from Lexington, SC who recently received his wish to go to a Red Sox game. Twelve-year-old Eli has battled lymphoblastic leukemia and his wish gave him a source of joy to focus on during remaining treatments.

Eli’s mom, Robin, stated, “Knowing he had a wish kept him going.” She went on to comment, “You know, it’s almost overwhelming because the generosity of everyone involved was so amazing.”

Another notable appearance during the evening will be Mike Ciprari with SJC Drums. Mike became a Make-A-Wish advocate after helping grant a wish for Goose Creek wish kid, Jose. Jose wished for a professional drum set.

“When I was invited to speak at The Wish Ball in February, I was once again floored. It’s an honor to once again relive this experience that meant so much to me,” Mike said. “Make-A-Wish does amazing things, and the fact that I can be a small part of it is humbling and exciting. We work with some of the biggest drummers in the music industry, but nothing compares to the interaction I had with Jose that day, and I can’t wait to share that with other people.”

In addition to Eli and Mike, guests can anticipate hearing additional inspiring speakers, enjoying fun event highlights, gourmet dining, fantastic silent and live auctions and live music.
