Filing for Nonpartisan Seats Opens August 1st

July 17, 2024

Any candidate seeking a nonpartisan office in the 2024 General Election must file a statement of intention of candidacy at the Board of Voter Registration & Elections office during the upcoming filing period.

Filing will take place at the Board of Voter Registration & Elections, 205 Bolt Drive, Laurens, SC  29360 from noon on August 1 to noon on August 15, 2024.

During weekdays, the filing office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing ample opportunity for prospective candidates to complete the paperwork. The Statement of Intention of Candidacy form necessary for filing can be accessed via the “Candidate Information” section of scVOTES.gov or obtained directly from the county elections office.

In addition to filing their intentions locally, candidates must fulfill state ethics requirements by submitting a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online through the State Ethics Commission’s website at ethics.sc.gov.
