First Citizens Bank donates $10,000 to support South Carolina Independent Colleges’ Student Lifeline Grant Program
November 4, 2024South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) announced a generous gift from First Citizens Bank in the amount of $10,000. This contribution will go toward SCICU’s Student Lifeline Grant Program, which provides financial relief to students experiencing unexpected hardships at all 21 SCICU member institutions.
The Student Lifeline Grant Program plays a vital role in ensuring that students facing sudden financial crises—such as medical emergencies, family difficulties, or unanticipated bills—can continue their education uninterrupted. By covering essential expenses like tuition, housing, and textbooks, the grants offer students a lifeline in their times of greatest need.
“We are incredibly grateful to First Citizens Bank for their continued support of higher education in South Carolina,” said Emma Reabold, Vice President for Development and Campus Services. “This $10,000 gift will make a tangible difference in the lives of students, ensuring that unforeseen financial challenges do not prevent them from completing their studies. This kind of support allows our students to focus on their academic success and long-term goals without the fear of financial barriers.”
First Citizens Bank has a long-standing tradition of investing in education and empowering students to succeed. Through this donation, they reaffirm their commitment to building stronger communities and enabling young people to achieve their full potential.
“First Citizens is pleased to partner with SCICU and support its Student Lifeline Grant Program at a time when this initiative is truly needed,” said Sharon Bryant, South Region Executive at First Citizens Bank. “It’s part of our Forever First commitment to our community to join with SCICU and help these students persevere — allowing them to stay in school and complete their degrees. Through this program, SCICU is meeting a critical need, and we’re proud to participate in this significant effort.”
This generous donation will benefit students attending SCICU’s 21 member institutions across the state, helping them stay on course toward earning their degrees despite unforeseen financial hurdles.
