Fisher Phillips launches interactive pay equity map

February 22, 2018

In response to the recent avalanche of pay equity legislation and challenges facing employers working to understand and comply with a patchwork quilt of equal pay laws, Fisher Phillips announced today the launch of the “Pay Equity Interactive Map.” This web-based tool allows visitors to explore the pay equity laws of states and major cities by simply clicking on the map. The interactive tool was designed by members of the firm’s Pay Equity Practice Group, including Columbia partner and practice group co-chair, Cheryl Behymer.

“Given the ever-changing pay equity legislative landscape and the differing pay equality statutes in each state, we wanted to provide a streamlined tool for companies and their legal counsel to easily access pay equity laws that are relevant to their markets,” said Behymer. “Of course, the interactive map is to be used as a support for those clients who visit the Fisher Philips website, and not to act as a substitute for legal counsel.”

For example, employers clicking on South Carolina would learn more about specific laws in place to protect employees from unlawful employment practices and an overview of the South Carolina Human Affairs Laws. The site also lists exemptions and defenses available to employers.

Fisher Phillips provides significant employer resources in the burgeoning area of pay equity law and litigation. The Fisher Phillips blog, Pay Equity Matters: Mind the Gap, provides regular updates regarding developments impacting all aspects of equal pay law, legislation and litigation.

The other co-chairs of the Fisher Phillips Pay Equity Practice are Kathleen Caminiti, a partner in New Jersey, and Cheryl Pinarchick, a partner in Boston.
