Fizz, boom, spark a reaction with CCPL’s Summer Reading Program
May 28, 2014Children, young adults and adults can receive rewards from Charleston County Public Library between June 1 and August 10, just for reading.
As part of the library’s continuing efforts to promote literacy and reading for the whole family, Charleston County residents can sign up for free at any of the 16 CCPL branch locations starting June 1. Studies show that children who read during the summer are better prepared for the next school year and are less likely to regress in their reading comprehension. It’s critical to reach children BEFORE they go to school and to get the whole family involved. Readers of all ages can enjoy hundreds of free events offered at CCPL’s 16 branches, including magicians, plays, puppet shows, storytellers, clowns, concerts and even activities with live animals. Thousands of prize incentives are given out to local residents, and prize drawings are held throughout the summer. The more you read, the more chances you’ll have to win. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, Summer Reading prizes range from edible treats from McDonalds, Sweet CeCe’s frozen yogurt and Maverick Southern Kitchens to RiverDogs tickets and Whirlin’ Waters passes, to gift cards to Starbucks, Lowes and Regal Cinemas and entry into a grand prize drawing. There also is a brand new Summer Reading program for all ages: |
