Flight School of Greenville Opens

December 15, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – “Explaining what makes an airplane fly, what the flight controls do and going over a pre-flight inspection, while your new student eagerly awaits their chance behind the controls, is a wonderful experience that continues on to the day of their first solo flight, when they shut off the airplane, open the door, wearing a huge smile and say, ‘That was awesome!’ ” stated Cyndy Hollman, Chief Flight Instructor and Owner of the Flight School of Greenville which opened late this fall at the Greenville Downtown Airport in South Carolina.

Pilot demand has been in the news a lot lately after Boeing released its’ 2014 Pilot and Technician Outlook, a report that predicts that North America will need another 88,000 pilots between now and 2033. (http://www.boeing.com/assets/pdf/commercial/aviationservices/flight-services/training/pilot_tech_outlook_2014.pdf) The Flight School of Greenville can help train people for these positions.

In one of two 1999 Cessna 172′s with an Auto Pilot and a GPS; or in a High Performance Complex 6 seat Piper Lance aircraft, Flight School of Greenville can train Private, Instrument Rated, Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor pilots. They specialize in accelerated, proficiency, pinch hitter and ground school courses; they also perform flight reviews and have a pilot shop that sells supplies and aviation themed gifts.

A Private Pilot Certificate allows someone to fly family and friends, day or night, in good visibility weather. Travel can turn from an 8 hour car ride into a 3 hour flight. Traveling for work can turn a two or three day business trip into a one day trip. Adding an Instrument Rating to a Private Pilot Certificate allows one to fly through the clouds thus making travel less dependent on weather.

A Commercial Certificate gives one the ability to be PAID for flying. It teaches the mastery of more complex and advanced aircraft, builds flight time, experience and adds on the learning of maneuvers like Chandells (where the pilot combines a 180° turn with a climb) and Lazy 8s (which look like an infinity symbol (infty), often described as a horizontal figure eight), Obtaining a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI) allows one to train Private Pilots, Commercial Pilots and administer biannual flight reviews. Adding an Instrument rating to the Certified Flight Instructor certificate (CFI-I) allows one to teach students looking to achieve their Instrument rating.

For those who might be interested in becoming a pilot, The Flight School of Greenville has an Introductory Flight Lesson ($200) which includes 45 minutes of ground instruction which teaches flight fundamentals and how to prepare the airplane prior to flight; and another 45 minutes in the air with you at the controls for as much time as you feel comfortable with. The Pinch Hitter Course teaches a friend or family member the skills necessary to land the aircraft. It is designed to provide comfort in knowing, that in the unfortunate event the pilot becomes unable to fly, that the non-pilot will be able to safely take the controls and land the airplane.

“Flight School of Greenville is a top notch flight school! I was pleasantly surprised by the newer airplanes that they had compared to the other flight schools in the area. The instructors are professional, friendly, and have tons of experience. I would recommend them to anyone thinking about getting into aviation,” stated Anthony Walls, a local pilot trainee.

The schools flight instructors are Cyndy Hollman, Mitul Tilva, Travis Fleshman and Jason Gainey. For more information about their experience and credentials you can visit: http://flightschoolofgreenville.com/meet-the-instructors/
