Folly Association of Business opposed to proposed amendment to commercial noise ordinance on Folly Beach

April 9, 2019
At tonight’s Folly Beach City Council meeting, the council will have the first reading of a proposed amendment to a noise ordinance that will affect Folly’s businesses. If passed, the ordinance would change how the city measures noise in the commercial district and the penalties for noncompliance.

Many of the establishments in the commercial district host live and recorded music and entertainment for the benefit of their guests. The Folly Beach Association of Business (FAB) is concerned that this change could restrict or remove their ability to provide entertainment and could open the door for subjective interpretation of the ordinance.

The Folly Association of Business is encouraging all members to attend the meeting in order to protect their ability to provide music and entertainment for guests of their establishments.

FAB is an organization whose mission is to strengthen the business district on Folly Beach.  This includes facilitating collaboration within the Folly Beach business community, organizing support of charitable organizations and executing the festivals that ring off-season revenue and support Folly Beach Charities.
