Forum planned for Chapin Town Council and Mayor candidates

September 12, 2017

Chapin area residents will have an opportunity to meet the candidates running to serve on Chapin Town Council at a candidate forum scheduled for Thursday, October 5 at 5:30 pm in the Community Room at Chapin Town Hall (157 NW Columbia Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036).

The forum will provide some time for citizens to meet candidates one-on-one before the panel discussion begins at 6:00 pm. Candidates will share some introductory remarks about their backgrounds, interest in serving the town as an elected official and their vision for the future of Chapin. There will be a series of questions related to the issues and challenges facing the community provided by a moderator from the Chapin Woman’s Club, and then citizens will have an opportunity to ask questions from the floor as time permits.

Current Mayor Skip Wilson is seeking a second term with former Town Attorney David Knight and political newcomer Shayla Flores also running for mayor. Chapin residents Preston Baines, Joe Dever, and Al Koon are vying to fill two council seats that are currently held by Robbie Frick and Gregg White.
