Fountain Inn Fire Department Reminds Residents of Recreational Fire Safety Rules
October 13, 2025As cooler weather approaches and families gather around outdoor fires for warmth, cooking, or simply to enjoy the season, the Fountain Inn Fire Department is reminding residents of important safety regulations surrounding recreational fires.
A recreational fire is defined as an outdoor fire with a total fuel area no larger than 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height, used for pleasure, cooking, warmth, or similar purposes. It is also important to note that City ordinances prohibit the burning of trash, leaves, or debris within City limits. Additional permits are required for land clearing or other open burning, and homeowners’ associations or property management rules may impose stricter guidelines.
“Outdoor fires can be a safe and enjoyable activity when done responsibly,” said the Fountain Inn Fire Marshal, Rodney Crenshaw. “Following these guidelines helps prevent property damage and keeps our community safe.”
