Fourth Presbyterian Church Constructing Good City Architects’ Design
June 17, 2015Triangle Construction renovating buildings and adding Youth Ministry space
GREENVILLE, SC – Good City Architects, an architecture and interior design firm based in Greenville, S.C., recently completed a new design for Fourth Presbyterian Church in Greenville that is now under construction. The project involves renovations to the church’s campus on Washington Avenue, as well as the addition of a space specifically for youth ministry. Triangle Construction of Greenville is the contractor.
With a century of ministry in the city of Greenville, the congregation has used the Gothic Revival sanctuary, designed by architect J.E. Sirrine, since its dedication in 1913. The renovations will update classroom space, improve access to the sanctuary, and support the Church’s preschool and housing ministries. An 1800 square-foot addition will house the Church’s youth ministry and complement the original architecture.
“Fourth’s leadership challenged the congregation to support new and expanded ministry, to underwrite much needed improvements to these buildings, and to endow their maintenance for years to come. They responded in a big way,” said Dr. Mike Hoyt, pastor. “Good City understands that the buildings are part of the legacy of those who preceded us, and that we have a responsibility to pass that legacy on to those who follow.”
“The people of Fourth Presbyterian have ministered to Greenville and beyond for a hundred years,” said Ron Geyer, founder and principal of Good City Architects. “Their investment in these buildings is evidence of their vision for the next hundred.”
