The tour will originate and conclude in Lake City, South Carolina, with participants traveling by van to visit several significant sites connected to Marion’s legendary exploits. Known as the “Swamp Fox,” Marion played a pivotal role in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution, using guerrilla tactics to outwit British forces.
A Full Immersion into Marion’s World
The itinerary includes historic stops such as Tearcoat Swamp, Fort Watson, Eutaw Springs, the Francis Marion gravesite, Kingstree Lower Bridge, Witherspoon Ferry, and Black Mingo. The group will also tour the Francis Marion Interpretive Center at the Georgetown Museum, offering a deeper understanding of the man and the times in which he lived.
Tours will run all day Friday and Saturday, giving participants a chance to explore each site and hear in-depth stories and historical context from Ashmore.
