Friday Night Lights: Laurens County Week 1 Scores (Aug. 22, 2025)

The 2025 high school football season opened across Laurens County on Friday night, and all four county teams were in action. Fans packed stadiums from Laurens to Woodruff as the Raiders, Red Devils, Saints, and Crusaders began their new campaigns.

Team Recaps

Laurens Raiders (0–1)
The Raiders opened on the road at Hillcrest and kept it close early before the Rams surged in the second half to pull away, 56–17. Laurens returns home for a county showdown with Clinton on August 29 at K.C. Hanna Stadium.

Clinton Red Devils (0–1)
The defending state champions dropped a tough 21–13 decision at Woodruff. Clinton now turns its attention to rival Laurens in one of the county’s most anticipated games of the season on August 29.

Thornwell Saints (0–1)
In their varsity return, the Saints fell 43–6 to American Leadership Academy in Clinton. Thornwell will be idle on August 29 before traveling to Calhoun Falls Charter on September 5.

Laurens Academy Crusaders (1–0)
The Crusaders got off to a strong start, topping Newberry Academy 30–14 in their SCISA opener. Next up is a road trip to Wardlaw Academy on August 29.
