Furman University Welcomes Seven New Trustees At Fall Board Meeting
November 2, 2010GREENVILLE, SC – November 2, 2010 – The Furman University Board of Trustees welcomed seven new members at its fall meeting Saturday.
The new trustees, who began their terms in July, are Stanford Jennings of Alpharetta, Ga., Juan Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., James C. Mabry of Richmond, Va., Paul L. Robertson of Dunwoody, Ga., Daniel S. Sanders of Greenville, David Trone of Potomac, Md., and John C. Yates of Atlanta, Ga.
The board also welcomed three members who were elected as emeritus trustees earlier this spring —John C. Cothran of Greenville, James L. Hamrick of Spartanburg and William B. Howes of Flat Rock, N.C. All had served previously on the board, including terms as chair.
Furman’s board consists of 36 members, plus the trustees emeriti.
Jennings is regional sales manager for New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc., in Alpharetta; Johnson is president of Juan Johnson Consulting and Facilitation in Atlanta; Mabry is managing director of Keefe Bruyette & Woods, Inc., in Richmond; Robertson is managing director of Edge Capital Partners in Atlanta; Sanders is retired and the former president of ExxonMobil Chemical Company; Trone is owner and president of Total Wine & More in Potomac; and Yates is partner-in-charge of the Technology Practice for Morris, Manning & Martin in Atlanta.
Jennings ’84, Robertson ’82 and Trone ’77 are Furman graduates. Jennings has previously served on the board.
