Greenville County Council Appoints Hackl, Howard, Lattimore and Meadows to New 3-Year Terms

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC – April 18, 2011 – The Greenville Area Development Corporation, the county-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, has announced the reappointment of business leaders Jo Watson Hackl, Robert Howard and Ray Lattimore, along with Greenville County Council member Willis Meadows, to new three-year terms on the organization’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Hackl, Mr. Howard and Mr. Lattimore are involved in the Greenville business community and have been respected leaders in economic development activities in Greenville County, said Jerry Howard, GADC President and CEO, in making the announcement.  Combined with the political insights and business experience provided by Councilman Meadows, the reappointment of each one of these individuals provides continuity, stability and insight to the policy-making role the board provides to the organization.

Ms. Hackl is an attorney with the Greenville-based Wyche law firm.  She also chairs the Community Foundation of Greenville and is Co-Chair of the Liberty Fellowship Economic Development Forum.  She serves as Trustee of the United Way of Greenville County, the Emrys Foundation, and Camperdown Academy. Long active in civic causes, she is a Liberty Fellow and past president of the Greenville County Bar Association and the Greenville Women’s Forum.

Mr. Howard is executive director of the Greenville Tech Foundation and the former executive director of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. A former commissioner of the Greenville Water System, he serves on the board of numerous civic organizations including the Community Foundation of Greenville, the Metropolitan Arts Council and the Rose Ball, and is a past president of the South Carolina Nature Conservancy, Leadership South Carolina and the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation.

Mr. Lattimore is president and CEO of Marketplace Staffing, a Greenville-based company providing world-class, comprehensive staffing and productivity solutions to blue-chip companies across the Southeast.   A Liberty Fellow and graduate of both Leadership South Carolina and Leadership Greenville, he holds the Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) credential, and is active on numerous boards including the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council, United Way of Greenville County, and Southern Wesleyan University.

Mr. Meadows is a longtime resident of Greenville County and the owner of Willis Meadows Insurance.  Prior to entering the insurance business, Mr. Meadows served as administrator and principal at two Greenville County public high schools and as headmaster at Shannon Forest Christian School.  He has served his community as chairman of the Greenville Legislative Delegation’s Transportation Committee, as a director of Miracle Hill Ministries, and as an elder at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church.

All four of these individuals bring unique assets and have played key roles in helping to attract investments and quality jobs to Greenville County, said Howard in making the announcement.  They will continue to provide exceptional leadership for Greenville and for the Greenville Area Development Corporation.

Since its inception in 2001, the Greenville Area Development Corporation has announced support of more than 170 major projects representing more than $2.3 billion in capital investment and creating in excess of 12,000 new jobs in Greenville County.  Private sector support of the GADC has also reached an all-time high, with more than 140 investor companies now contributing to the community’s and GADC’s success.
