Georgetown County releases its 2025 Annual Report

March 2, 2026

Georgetown County has released its 2025 Annual Report for public review. The report highlights key accomplishments, major projects, financial stewardship and service milestones from the past year, reflecting the county’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability and community progress.

In her opening message, County Administrator Angela Christian noted that county staff worked collaboratively across departments to meet both daily operational needs and long-term community priorities.

“One of the most significant milestones of the year was the launch of projects funded through the Capital Project Sales Tax approved by voters in late 2024,” Christian said. “While much of this work remains in planning and early implementation phases, these efforts are laying the groundwork for visible improvements in public safety, drainage, recreation facilities, and emergency response infrastructure. These investments reflect a shared commitment to addressing longstanding needs while preparing for future growth.”

According to the report more than $6.2 million was collected in just over two quarters. This dedicated funding will enable the county to fast-track several key projects, including:

• Construction of a new Emergency Services Complex (Emergency Operations Center and 911 Communications Center)
• Drainage and stormwater resiliency improvements in multiple communities
• Recreational facility expansions including court renovations and trail development
• Transportation and multi-modal access improvements

Much of the design and early procurement work for these projects was completed in 2025, and residents should see news of groundbreakings and actual construction work through 2026. The Capital Project Sales Tax is expected to fund more than $100 million in voter-approved projects over its 8-year lifespan, including major public infrastructure work in rural communities.  This long-term investment is credited to help public safety, mobility and recreation access keep pace with growth.

Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to explore the report to learn more about the work being done to serve Georgetown County.
