Georgetown County schools extend eLearning through Tuesday, February 3

February 2, 2026

Georgetown County School District is extending eLearning through Tuesday, February 3, 2026. All schools and district offices will be closed, and all activities, including athletic competitions, field trips, and other events, are canceled through Tuesday, February 3.

This decision was made due to ongoing hazardous travel conditions in parts of the county following recent wintry weather. Given the size of Georgetown County and the geographic span of the District, road conditions vary, and not all areas received the same amount of precipitation. Icy conditions remain on some secondary roads and shaded areas, creating unsafe travel conditions for buses, staff, and student drivers. The National Weather Service has issued a travel advisory through 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, further reinforcing the need for continued caution.

If conditions allow, athletic practices may resume on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Student-athletes are encouraged to coordinate directly with their coaches and school athletic directors for specific details and updates.

At this time, the District anticipates a return to normal operations on Wednesday, February 4.

For updates, families and staff should continue to monitor the District website, GCSD’s Facebook page, and local media outlets.
