Get more done in less time – Are you willing to practice self-discipline?
September 8, 2014By Jerry Bellune
Are you willing to practice self-discipline?
Most of us struggle with managing our time.
But time management is not the issue.
Misguided people talk about managing time.
That’s nonsense and most of us have figured that out.
What’s important is our self-discipline.
Productive people have no more time than we do.
They just discipline themselves to use their time.
They make the most of the 24 hours each of us have.
What we want isn’t complicated. We want:
• Greater productivity in the time we have.
• More time for what we want, not just need.
• More time to spend with those we love.
Self-management will do that for us.
Here are 3 more steps to help you with self-discipline.
1. Get yourself organized.
Quit wasting time on unimportant things.
There’s plenty of time for that stuff later.
And stop hiding things from yourself.
Can’t find your car keys, cell phone, etc.?
Put them in the same place every night before bed.
Believe it or not, they’ll be there the next morning.
2. Plan your goals for each day and week.
Use an appointment book or electronic planner.
This will help you stay on track during the day.
Be prepared for interruptions and the unexpected.
They will happen. You can count on it.
Just tackle the big frogs first.
The smaller frogs can wait until the next day.
3. Plan tomorrow today.
Make this a habit at the end of each day.
Go over tomorrow’s schedule.
Add projects you were unable to complete today.
Prioritize everything in order of importance.
Do this when you’re ready to turn in.
Your subconscious mind will work on it as you sleep.
