Get outside your reading comfort zone with #BroaderBookshelf

February 8, 2021

Find some new titles that you love just in time for Valentine’s Day by embracing Richland Library’s 2021 Broader Bookshelf Reading Challenge.

It offers prompts throughout the year to get outside your reading comfort zone and discover new authors, genres and books that you may not otherwise select, such as:

  • Read a fiction or nonfiction book by a journalist
  • Read the first book in a series by a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) author
  • Read a retelling of a classic, fairy tale or myth

A list of all 14 prompts is available at richlandlibrary.com/broaderbookshelf. Get personalized recommendations from our staff to help you complete the 2021 Broader Bookshelf Reading Challenge and then share your reading journey with us online, using #BroaderBookshelf.

The 2021 Broader Bookshelf Reading Challenge takes the place of One Book, One Community after nine years, which encouraged everyone to read the same book at the same time over a month.
