Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands announces new board of directors members
February 20, 2025Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands Mountains announces the election of four new members to the Board of Directors, serving a 22-county jurisdiction.
The four new members elected to serve are Mrs. Pamela T. Davis, Mr. Monroe Free, Sherri Gaillard Jenkins, and Ashlye V. Wilkerson, Ph.D.

Pamela T. Davis
Pamela T. Davis is an esteemed educator with over two decades. of experience. Throughout her career as a classroom teacher, Pamela has consistently demonstrated a commitment to fostering innovative learning environments that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills essential for real-world success. Her expertise spans special education, student intervention, career preparation, and academic support, where she has successfully guided numerous students toward achieving their educational and personal goals. Pamela holds a Master of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. She is a renewed National Board-Certified Teacher (2023-2028).
Beyond her educational career, Pamela dedicates much of her time to community service. She is a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. She is a Board Member for the Salvation Army of the Midlands and has served on the Gold Award Committee for the Girl Scouts for the past seven years. Additionally, she has been a member of the Spring Valley High School Education Foundation for the past five years and has played a key role in successfully securing substantial financial support for the foundation. Pamela is also an active member of Brookland Baptist Church, where she serves as a teen Sunday School Teacher. Outside of her professional and community roles, she enjoys reading, traveling, and interior design. Pamela’s deep commitment to education, family, and community service is evident through her leadership and volunteer efforts. Married for over 25 years, Pamela and her husband are the proud parents of three daughters.

Monroe Free
Monroe Free recently retired as Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity, Greenville, SC, after 16 years. Under his leadership, the organization experienced significant growth. Monroe is an adjunct leadership coach with the Leaders Perspective. Monroe also provides strategic planning and consulting services. Previously, Monroe served as Chief Marketing officer for the United States Children’s Bible Ministries and CEO of Knox Area Rescue Ministries. For five years of his professional life, he owned and operated a consulting firm focusing on nonprofit organizations. Monroe has served in several volunteer roles through the years; Chair of the board of directors for South Carolina Habitat affiliates, chair of the Affordable Housing Coalition of Greenville, and Habitat for Humanity International Policy Committee. He currently serves on the board of Together SC and is a former chair and board member of Rolling Green Retirement Village.
Monroe has received the Healthcare Transformation Award: Healthy Homes and Hometown sponsored by PRISMA Health and recently received the Order of the Palmetto awarded by the Governor of South Carolina. Monroe is married to Kim and the two share three adult children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include reading, camping and flyfishing for trout.

Sherri Gaillard Jenkins
Sherri Gaillard Jenkins was a Girl Scout Brownie and has almost 30 years of experience in the financial industry including roles as a finance faculty member, Ph.D. dissertation finance chair, a commercial and. consumer lender, County GL Manager, and currently the manager of the IT General Controls Risk for AgFirst Farm Credit. Sherri is a graduate of The University of South Carolina and holds an MBA Finance and a Master of Arts in Adult Education, with a specialized focus in Applied Management Decision Science – Finance from Walden University. Guiding and motivating young girls and women of all ages is an undeniable passion of Sherri’s. Sherri has continually demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities over the years. During the Clinton presidency, she was recognized as a legacy nominee for the Women of Distinction Award. Currently, Sherri serves on the Finance Committee of the Girl Scouts of SC – Mountains to Midlands.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Sherri is a dedicated manager and mentor. She actively supports the growth and empowerment of her female colleagues. Her personal values align seamlessly with the Girl Scouts’ mission, which inspires girls to reach their full potential and make positive contributions to the world.

Dr. Ashlye V. Wilkerson
Dr. Ashlye V. Wilkerson is a dynamic speaker, leadership expert, and motivator. She is a community leader and advocate who fully embodies the spirit of excellence. At the age of 29, Dr. Ashlye was appointed by the South Carolina General Assembly to the Board of Trustees for Winthrop University.
As a speaker and leadership developer, Dr. Ashlye motivates, inspires, and empowers audiences to unlock their full potential and achieve at high levels. Her key topics include service excellence, personal and professional performance, success and motivated mindset, and leadership development. She speaks at conferences, churches, team building sessions, staff retreats, nonprofit board meetings, corporate training, churches, organizations, universities, and K-12 schools and districts. With her longstanding commitment to early childhood education and literacy, Dr. Ashlye authored four children’s books.
Dr. Ashlye earned a bachelor’s in psychology with a double minor in early childhood education and entrepreneurship from Winthrop University. She earned a Master of Art in teaching from Hampton University and a Ph.D. in teaching and learning from the University of South Carolina. She also attained two professional certifications in servant leadership and executive leadership from Cornell University.
Dr. Ashlye is the wife of L. Kobie Wilkerson, III, and the mother of Alana (10) and Ariah (8). She is the daughter of Anthony (deceased) and Fannie Geddis and Johnny Rumph. Dr. Ashlye has served as a volunteer for Girl Scouts for seventeen years.

Long Junior, Urban League, Director of Education and Youth Services; Maggie Meekins, Attorney with court services.
