Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) announced the launch of B.U.I.L.D. Your Future, a new 12-week pilot entrepreneurship program designed specifically for adult learners seeking to start or strengthen their own businesses. The program will officially launch on February 9, 2026, as part of GLA’s expanding Career Pathways initiatives.
Space is limited, and registration for the B.U.I.L.D. Your Future pilot program closes Friday, February 6, 2026.
B.U.I.L.D. Your Future—an acronym for Business Concepts, Understanding Ownership, Integrate Financial Skills, Launch with Marketing, and Deliver & Demonstrate—is a workforce-readiness initiative that aligns directly with GLA’s mission to enrich the community by increasing literacy, employability, and economic mobility among adult learners.
Through hands-on instruction and real-world application, participants will gain essential entrepreneurial skills, including:
- Business Foundations: Understanding business structures, identifying customer needs, conducting market research, and developing a viable business plan
- Marketing Essentials: Building a brand, crafting effective messaging, and using digital marketing tools to compete in today’s marketplace
- Financial Literacy: Budgeting, pricing, managing start-up costs, understanding break-even points, and planning for long-term financial sustainability
The program emphasizes experiential learning and personalized mentoring to help participants transform ideas into actionable business ventures. By strengthening entrepreneurial literacy, B.U.I.L.D. Your Future supports adult learners in advancing their careers, increasing financial independence, and contributing to the local economy.
The pilot program is facilitated by GLA Program Director Nicke Haney and College and Career Navigator Liz Meeker, both of whom are completing certification through the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) to deliver high-quality, research-based entrepreneurship training for adult learners.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Nearly 45,000 adults in Greenville County do not have a high school diploma, limiting access to stable employment, career advancement, and economic mobility. Many adult learners have strong ideas, skills, and motivation—but lack access to practical business education, financial literacy, and mentorship.
B.U.I.L.D. Your Future addresses this gap by equipping adult learners with the tools and confidence needed to pursue entrepreneurship and self-employment as viable career pathways. Every dollar invested in Greenville Literacy Association helps adults earn their GED, master English, and gain the skills necessary to access better job opportunities—strengthening families, the local workforce, and the broader Greenville community.
