Glasgow to co-chair national philanthropic organization

August 2, 2023

Greenville resident Maggie Glasgow has been appointed one of two co-chairs of Philanos, the nation’s largest women’s collective giving network. Glasgow, who is also a longtime member of Greenville Women Giving, has served on the board of Philanos for the past six years. Her appointment as co-chair began July 1 and lasts two years.

“I am honored to serve as co-chair of such a worthwhile organization that helps drive more than 20,000 women to action. Philanos represents the power of women and the monumental impact they have on local communities.”

Philanos is a global network of women’s collective giving organizations. It works to accelerate women’s philanthropic giving by providing affiliates the resources they need to impact their communities. Currently, there are 90 affiliate members of Philanos throughout the U.S., London and Australia. GWG is one of the largest member affiliates with more than 550 members and annual giving in excess of $500,000.

Glasgow is responsible for establishing a new shared leadership model for Philanos. As a member of GWG for 16 years –– four of which she served as a co-chair –– Glasgow experienced first-hand the benefits of sharing leadership duties with fellow co-chairs.

“The attention to detail required to grow and sustain an effective collective giving organization is immense,” she said. “Shared leadership is one of the chief reasons for Greenville Women Giving’s success and I firmly believe it will make Philanos stronger and even more effective.”

Glasgow’s co-chair this year is Sandy Cook, a member of Impact100 Metro Denver and a legacy member of Women’s Giving Alliance of NE Florida in Jacksonville.
