GLEAMNS Leaders Recognized for Earning Prestigious CCAP Certification
December 14, 2025GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Inc. is proud to announce that Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ameca C. Thomas and Chief Operating Officer Ms. Jennifer Abercrombie have earned the Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) certification, one of the highest professional recognitions within the national Community Action Network.
The CCAP designation, awarded by the National Community Action Partnership, signifies exceptional leadership, mastery of Community Action standards, and a deep commitment to the mission of helping families achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency. Becoming a CCAP requires a rigorous, multi-step process including peer review, essay submissions, and demonstrated knowledge of Community Action history, governance, leadership, and results-driven management assessments.
In 2025, only four professionals in the entire state of South Carolina earned the CCAP certification. Alongside Dr. Thomas and Ms. Abercrombie, two additional honorees represented SHARE Community Action Agency in Greenville, South Carolina, marking an exceptional year of leadership achievement for the state.
Dr. Thomas stated, “Earning the CCAP certification is deeply meaningful to me because it reinforces the heart of our work—Helping People and Changing Lives. The CCAP process challenged me to grow, elevate my knowledge of Community Action at every level, and reflect on how we can continuously improve our impact. It pushed me to think more strategically about the future of GLEAMNS, the needs of our communities, and the responsibility we carry as leaders in this network. This certification represents not only personal growth, but a renewed commitment to leading with intention, integrity, and excellence on behalf of the families we serve.”
Dr. Thomas and Ms. Abercrombie were recognized both at the South Carolina Community Action Partnership (SCCAP) Mid-Fall Conference and on the national stage at the 2025 National Community Action Partnership Annual Convention in Detroit, Michigan.
Jennifer Abercrombie said, “I chose to pursue and earn the CCAP Certification because I truly wanted to deepen my knowledge, strengthen my leadership, and be better equipped to serve our communities. This journey has been impactful because it connects so closely to the mission of GLEAMNS, and I am grateful for the chance to grow. I look forward to using what I’ve gained during this process to carry out the Promise of Community Action with purpose.”
National Community Action Partnership CEO Denise Harlow, CCAP, praised the accomplishments of the new CCAP class, stating:
“I am so happy to congratulate this new class of Certified Community Action Professionals! Each CCAP has demonstrated a deep commitment to the principles and mission of Community Action, achieving this certification through hard work, focus, and a dedication to professional growth. Together with the CCAP classes before them, they ensure that our Network continues to thrive with knowledgeable, passionate, and visionary leaders who carry our mission forward.”
GLEAMNS celebrates this milestone achievement for its executive leadership and extends sincere congratulations to the entire 2025 CCAP cohort. The agency looks forward to leveraging this advanced expertise to strengthen its programs, empower communities, and continue fulfilling the Community Action Promise.
