Laurens County Automates Its Blood Bank
DENVER, CO – March 31, 2009 – Global Med Technologies(R), Inc. (Global Med), an international healthcare information technology company, today announced that its Wyndgate Technologies(R) division has licensed its SafeTrace Tx(R) transfusion management system to Laurens County Health System of Clinton, South Carolina. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Tina Strouse MCT(ASCP), Blood Bank Coordinator for Laurens County Health System, stated, Our department was looking for an electronic system to manage our transfusion service. With the ISBT 128 labeling standard, our manual methods to track products were cumbersome at best. A managed system will be safer for our patients than hand generating the long ISBT label codes. SafeTrace Tx supports ISBT and will also allow us to track the products electronically and generate our reports much easier.
Ms. Strouse continued, We were impressed by the features we were shown in the onsite demonstration. SafeTrace Tx looked easy to use and was able to interface with our laboratory information system. We felt that the system would allow us to transition easily from a paper environment to an electronic department.
SafeTrace Tx is transfusion management software which provides comprehensive tracking of orders, specimens, blood products, derivatives, and accessories with a complete testing and transfusion history in one consolidated record. These features will assist Laurens County Health System’s blood bank in selecting suitable blood products for their patients, help to reduce waste, and increase efficiency in their blood bank.
