GMK expands its architecture and engineering teams with the addition of Joseph F. Guido, AIA, and Matthew Fecas, EIT

COLUMBIA, SC – GMK announced that Joseph F. Guido, AIA, has joined GMK’s architecture division as a senior architect and Matthew Fecas, EIT, has joined GMK’s engineering division as a graduate engineer. Mr. Guido will support the architecture division’s design efforts primarily in the government and educational market sectors, while Mr. Fecas will assist in the production of mechanical plans and specifications associated with the range of projects under the engineering division’s purview.

Mr. Guido possesses over 20 years of architectural industry experience and is proficient in all phases of project development. He has proven abilities in providing high-quality designs that meet delivery schedules and construction budgets. His experience includes work for multiple state and federal agencies, primary and secondary educational institutions, military agencies, and commercial sector clients. Joseph joined GMK from CDA Architects (acquired by Pond & Company in 2016) where he recently led the design efforts on the $4 million Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Skilled Crafts Center for Midlands Technical College (airport campus), among other complex design assignments.

Weiland, AIA. “His design talent and project team management acumen has allowed him to jump in immediately to lead several of our critical project efforts.”

Mr. Guido holds a bachelor of architecture from Temple University and is a registered architect in South Carolina, a member of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA), and certified through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He is a board member on the City of Columbia’s Board of Zoning Appeals Form Based Codes, a member at large for the Palmetto Lexington Homecare, Hospice, Palliative Care & Private Services, and further volunteers his time with the Boy Scouts of America as well as serves as a disaster and humanitarian relief services worker.

Mr. Fecas is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and holds an Engineer in Training (EIT) designation in South Carolina, having recently passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. During his academic career, Mr. Fecas was named to the Dean’s List and was selected as a Junior Fellow for USC’s Ronald E. McNair Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research, an academic center specifically founded to help grow South Carolina’s knowledge-based economy and support industry through aerospace education, research leadership, and industry advancement. In addition to applied fabrication skills gained as a mechanical fabrication assistant and a CAD/CAM technician at the McNair Center, Mr. Fecas is proficient in Creo (ProE) and AutoCAD software. He is also active in several local service and charitable efforts and has previously served as a junior counselor and delegate with Palmetto Boy’s State.
