Governor McMaster and First Lady Host Christmas Open House and Guided Tours at the Governor’s Mansion
December 8, 2024South Carolinians are invited to experience the magic of the season as Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster host a Christmas Open House at the Governor’s Mansion on Monday, December 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
The evening will include festive entertainment with singers Trudy Wilson and Rhoda Paschal, accompanied by harpist Cayli Boyle, while guests enjoy light refreshments of hot chocolate, cookies, and candy canes. Families will also have the opportunity to meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.
The McMasters encourage attendees to share in the spirit of giving by bringing cat or dog food, litter, or toys to benefit Pawmetto Lifeline, a Midlands-based animal rescue. Donations will be collected at the entrance.
The Governor’s Mansion, adorned with Christmas trees from Penland Christmas Tree Farm and poinsettias provided by Gilbert High School’s Future Farmers of America, features traditional holiday decor lovingly arranged by the Columbia Garden Club, which has been decorating the mansion annually since 1981. A special highlight includes a gingerbread house replicating Charleston’s iconic Pineapple Fountain. Wreaths displayed throughout the complex have been created and placed by the South Carolina Department of Corrections’ Horticulture Division.
