Graham Applauds Senate Vote To Ensure Congressional Review of Iran Nuclear Deal
May 10, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today applauded the Senate’s passage of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which requires President Obama to submit any deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program to the Congress for review.
The Senate voted 98-1 in support of the legislation.
Graham said:
“Iran cannot be trusted. With passage of this legislation, the American people will have the opportunity to understand the details of any deal that may be entered into with the Iranians regarding their nuclear program.
“The American people, and their elected representatives, will be able to look at the content of the agreement, debate the consequences, and vote as to whether or not it’s a good deal for the United States. I believe any deal should be verifiable and include conditions to ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. I cannot think of a worse scenario for our national security than a bad deal with Iran.
“As one of the primary authors of this legislation, I am incredibly pleased this day has finally arrived. I want to thank Senators Corker, Cardin, and Menendez for their leadership in helping push this legislation through the Senate. Now I hope the House of Representatives will soon pass the legislation and we can place it on the President’s desk for his signature into law.”
