August 1, 2012

Columbia Chamber Recognized by CACCE at Annual Conference

COLUMBIA, SC – August 1, 2012 – The Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce was honored at the 2012 Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE) Annual Management Conference with the Communication of the Year Award in the category of Membership Recruitment Package. The conference, held on July 18-20 at Pawleys Plantation of Pawleys Island, S.C., brings chamber executives from North and South Carolina together to share ideas in order to better manage, represent and lead in their communities.

We want to emphasize the fact that our chamber belongs to its members. Joining the chamber is about joining a community, not just an institution, said Ike McLeese, president and CEO of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. A thriving business environment would not be possible without the support, collaboration and communication of all involved.

The Communication of the Year Award recognizes outstanding chamber marketing materials. Nominated publications were judged based on innovation, design, quality and content. Over the past year, the Columbia Chamber has worked to develop a membership recruitment campaign that is community focused, clear, energetic and organized. This prestigious award reflects the success of these efforts.

To receive this award is extremely high praise given that it comes from our chamber peers throughout the Carolinas, said Nicole Curtis, director of marketing and communications for the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. The new marketing materials embody not only where our chamber has been over the last 110 years, but also more importantly where it is going and how this relates to our growing and diverse membership base of more than 1,500 members throughout the Columbia region.

The Chamber’s new Membership Recruitment Package, produced by Genesis Studios with photographs by Flashnick Visuals and the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, was unveiled in May of 2012. Along with acknowledgement at the Awards Dinner, the Columbia Chamber received a plaque and an official seal recognizing this publication for excellence.
